Our journey began modestly enough when Jerry started providing local  fence installation services for leading retail giants Sears Roebuck and  Montgomery Ward. Jerry's dedication to delivering top-quality fencing  solutions soon expanded the business, and by the early 1980s, Breakwater  Fence grew to incorporate multiple crews, covering a vast geographical  span. From New York to Virginia, New Jersey to Maryland, the Breakwater  Fence name became synonymous with superior fencing services, trusted by  industrial facilities and state offices alike.

What sets Breakwater Fence apart from others in the business is its  unique family-oriented approach. Jerry, a father to nine sons, instilled  in them the skill of the trade. Today, five of his sons carry forward  his legacy in fencing. This familial continuity embedded in our company  gives us an unparalleled edge, translating into a personable,  relationship-based approach with our customers that is rare to find in  today's commercial world.

Our growth and expansion led us to move to a larger facility in 2011.  Currently, Breakwater Fence calls a seven-acre location in Sussex  County, Delaware, home. This move enabled us to efficiently manage our  operations while fueling our commitment to providing the best fencing  solutions in the region. Our focus remains on residential and commercial  fencing, serving the people of Delaware with an unwavering commitment  to quality, reliability, and exceptional customer service.

As we reflect on our history, we're proud of our humble beginnings as  a local fence installer. Salt & Co is a family owned lifestyle  brand featuring curated items we personally love.  Amie and Chris McCaslin opened their first retail store, A La Mode Boutique, in 2011 on  Sykesville, Maryland's Main Street.  

In 2015 a second location was opened in  Ellicott City, Maryland. After two devastating floods in Ellicott City  in 2016 and 2018 and the loss of our store twice in less than two years,  life took us in a new direction.  We moved to the beach for necessary  healing and the beach provided just the therapy our family needed.  

Our oldest daughter, Ashley, designed the  new name and logo.  Salt is an element essential for life and healing.   The meaning behind our new lifestyle brand represents not only a love  for the beach, but also a reminder to take time to heal.  The products  we carry are items we use in our everyday lives and we hope they also  find special meaning and healing for you.
